I have no trouble with you describing yourself as part of the et al . . . Roman Catholics et al.
Y’all have convincingly listed the many dozens of congregational types in communion/under the umbrella of the Pope and the Vatican. Fine with me. I’d prefer a shorter label but Roman Catholic et al works.
Thousands, I’d guess.
Well, it certainly contradicts your own personal interpretation of Scripture, but so what about that?
Nothing in Holy Tradition contradicts Holy Scripture, or vice versa.
The phrase which you used was "Jesus is still separate from God...As is the Holy Spirit...
You used it while lecturing my FRiend wagglebee about his alleged misunderstanding of the Trinity, but your own statement shows a clear misunderstanding of the Trinity. Yeah maybe nobody can really explain it, but to state that "Jesus is separate from God" is to show your own clear misunderstanding either of the Trinity or of the word "God" or of the word "separate".
There is no difference between the Latin Rite understanding of the Trinity and the Reformation understanding. My FRiend wagglebee is nothing, if not Orthodox in his trinitarian understanding. We may part company on other doctrinal issues, but on the Trinity I think that we are in Communion, so to speak.
My point is that if you are going to accuse someone of having a fundamental misunderstanding of the Trinity, that you had better be able to articulate what you mean without throwing out some statement that would not only be scripturally inaccurate, but historically heretical.
Maybe you might want to rephrase what you said.
LOL
There ya go again . . . seemingly expecting such folks to believe THE TRUTH.
Folks who believe that Christ founded a RELIGIOUS STRUCTURE on Peter will believe anything.
Folks who believe that the Roman Catholic et al edifice began before 300-400 AD will believe anything.
Yes, something I've never denied.
Except from the first chapter of Genesis second verse?
Thank you for confirming that. I certainly wasn't aware of any difference, but it's still nice to be certain.
There are certain doctrinal differences between Reformed, Catholic and Orthodox Christians, but there are also certain core beliefs where we have 100% agreement and the Holy Trinity is one of them.
3) We consider ourselves to be Christian. When Roman Catholics tell us that “Christian” means to pray to saints and to view the priest as “another Christ” and to label Mary as a “co-redeemer,” we, as Christians, feel obligated by the Gospel to say “No, that is not how we have so learned Christ.”
Point to any Catholic who has told you any of that garbage. Impossible, because it has not been done. This is another example of the falsehoods of the anti-Catholic bigots.
#################
I’ve documented just a fraction of the amount of that garbage—and worse in one of your organization’s officially sanctioned most popular devotionals.
Y’all refuse to admit proven fact.
Not very admirable or Christian, that.
In the first and second Adam, yes, but the Church Age was a mystery in all the Old Testament, and very little understood or revealed regarding the Holy Spirit.
But you're wrong.
Ask him to quote Matthew 28:19-20 to you, and you will see that he quite explicitly takes away from Scriptures.
You know this of course, but I have never accused you or Catholics in general of hating 'us guys'.
Im happy for anyone to read all of the posts, and to decide who is and who is not posting gibberish.
##############
Me too!
The difference in basic reality testing alone is sometimes starkly startling.
The difference in gibberish is . . . sometimes off the scale.
Praise God from whom all blessings flow.
In the 19th century?
Folks who deny the Catholic Church was founded by Christ circa AD 33 will deny anything.
Hereon, it increasingly seems like there’s more than a billion significantly different definitions as to what being
Roman Catholic et al means.
And no small amount of bewilderment amongst the troops on that score.
I guess that’s one reason that folks just grasp their beads with a tighter death grip and trudge on.
Great question.
And does any of the hierarchy in any discussions or public discourse ever refer to themselves or the diocese as Roman Catholic?
Great questions.
Now, now.
We all seem to need our fantasies to enjoy. LOL.
That is good for everyone to remember.
