Sacrifices can only occur when the Temple exists. If sacrifices were so important, don't you think G-d would protect the Temple and keep it safe, instead of letting it be destroyed, not just once but multiple times?

That is not true. Levitical sacrifices can only exist at the Temple. The Book is full of examples of sacrifices in the wilderness - Even to the description for the specifics of building an Alter to Yahweh, for that purpose.

Christ takes away the blood sacrifices for the remission of sin. He does *not* take away all blood sacrifices, nor other sacrifices. In fact, those sacrifices are predicted to take place in the Millennial Temple.

They brought sacrifices with them when they left captivity., so yeah, they sacrificed in the wilderness. They borrowed the tradition from their heathen captors.
