“Then Job answered the Lord, and said, “I know Thou canst do all things, and that no purpose of Thine can be thwarted. Who is this that hides counsel without knowledge?
Therefore I have declared that which I did not understand, things too wonderful for me, which I did not know. Hear now, and I will speak; I will ask Thee, and do Thou instruct me. I have heard of Thee by the hearing of the ear; but now my eye sees Thee; THEREFORE I RETRACT, AND I REPENT IN DUST AND ASHES.”
Of course, we can ask God anything, but like Job we had better remember we are asking the Holy God, and even in our extremity, guard our attitude.
And like Job, a genuine meeting with God brings us to repentence, humility, and the reminder that we are but dust and ashes.
Any other way, and you will have created a god of your own imagination.
