I’m reminded of the mathematical proof that 2 + 2 = 5.
I deny the absurdity of Mary the lesser bringing glory to God the greater by her innate wonderfulness or any other quality of her being what she simply was, Jesus’ earthly mother.
I deny the cheeky label of MOTHER OF GOD to a mere mortal.
I realize all manner of mythology has been concocted by the Vatican that turns mortal Mary into far more than a mere mortal in Vatican associates’ eyes. Not in mine. Nor in Mary’s, actually, according to reports of some Heavenly visitors.
All kinds of things can be rationalized. Doesn’t make them fitting nor right.
“I deny the cheeky label of MOTHER OF GOD to a mere mortal.”
The label “Mother of God” would seem to imply that Mary existed before the Son of God existed. Mary did not exist in any form whatsoever before the Son of God was the Son of God.
“Unto us a son child is born, unto us a son is GIVEN.” Two natures in one Person. Not two persons, but two natures in one Person. God, NOR the Son of God came into being as a result of the Holy Ghost coming upon and overshadowing the virgin. The Son pre-existed from eternity in the bosom of the Father. Mary did not pre-exist; the human womb could not produce the eteranl Son.
I deny the absurdity of Mary the lesser bringing glory to God the greater by her innate wonderfulness or any other quality of her being what she simply was, Jesus earthly mother.
WE say repeatedly, and the promulgation on the Immaculate conception makes clear, that anything good that Mary had came from God. "Innate" seems a vague and inapplicable term.
