I had a bad case of bronchitis one time (as an adult) and developed asthma from it. I had to use an inhaler, nebulizer and asthma meds for years. It finally went away, but I have to be careful with sinus infections that can go to bronchitis quickly. I still take Singulair, which helps a lot. I now have found out I have a cyst on my trachea! Don't know if related at all but I see a pulminologist in two weeks. If you have wheezing, don't ignore it. It could be adult onset asthma. Take care.
My doc and I had one theory about what was going on with me, to wit: a bronchitis irritated the lungs, got the ashtma/coughing going, and then it was self sustaining and self-exacerbating.
But, as I said, an old friend from 100s of miles away just described a course VERY similar to mine. And she has no asthma. So now we're wondering if it wasn't a virus with REAL staying power all along. The fact that I did have a LITTLE shortness of breath this PM when I went out in below 20F weather but did not curl up into a helpless ball coughing until I blacked out suggests that something has changed ...
I have a son near you in Rock Hill SC that left us for the warmer weather..
Keep warm there.. BTW it is freezing up north too... it is all that global warming
I assume you’ve checked out such as this from Henry Wright’s work?
