Why the test?God doesn't "test" His saints as if He didn't know the outcome. God is refining His saints as part of their sanctification.
God determines, and we trust in His goodness and faithfulness to ultimately do what will bring us closer to Him.

The REASON God put Job through all his trials is identified in scripture:
Job 42:5-6 I had heard of you by the hearing of the ear, but now my eye sees you; therefore I despise myself, and repent in dust and ashes."
As righteous and wonderful Job was, he still had an incomplete knowledge of God. We understand this through the numerous questions that God asked him. Satan thought that he was creating mischief for Job, whereas God was refining him.
Likewise, we should count it all joy when various trials overtake us. It only helps us to see God more clearly.

Ok...why the “object lesson”...to Satan, to Job, to Job’s family and friends, to us today? Seems pointless if God gave Job the faith to begin with.

God doesn't "test" His saints as if He didn't know the outcome. God is refining His saints as part of their sanctification. Is the Reformed Holy Spirit insufficient to the task of sanctifying His Elite so that an ongoing refining is required? The Reformed Holy Spirit must be less omnipotent then advertised, I suppose. What shall we discover next? That the Reformed limousine ride is actually on an uncovered oxcart?
