How can a church led by the Holy Spirit be deceived.. scripture says the "Holy Spirit will lead you into all truth"

Yet it does beg the question that there were two at the same time and which one was legitimate. Not to mention the dozen or so popes who were just plain evil, as history bears out. The only conclusion is that the HS has nothing to do with Popes and succession
