Who are the Catholics: The Orthodox or The Romanists, or both?

I just witnessed a couple of Orthodox posters get kicked off a "Catholic Caucus" thread. I thought, despite their differences, they had a mutual understanding that each sect was considered "Catholic". Are not the Orthodox considered Catholic? Why do the Romanists get to monopolize the term "Catholic"?

I consider myself to be Catholic being a part of the universal church of Christ. Why should one sect be able to use a universal concept to identify themselves in a caucus thread while other Christian denominations need to use specific qualifiers to identify themselves in a caucus thread?

I didn't shoot the messenger, I prayed for your redemption. My observation is valid. In all of your musings you put the basic premise that it is Total Depravity, that trumps the will and power of God, that first must be assumed to complete your arguments. Once we have disagreed on that the argument is moot.

You still need to read the Catechism of the Catholic Church if you want to argue about what the actual teachings of the Catholic Church are. You were not blessed with invincible ignorance so the fault is your own.

Well, a "Christian" is one who follows (belongs to) Jesus the Christ. If Jesus is not God, then a Christian would be one who does NOT follow God. How do you see it?

I’m pro-scripture, not anti-pope...although I’ve spent ample posts here over the last rejecting the idea that the Vicar of Christ is anyone other than the Holy Spirit.

The opposition is not to an individual. The opposition is to the unscriptural claims of dominance and status over all Christians. Rather than being unified by our common faith in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior the RCC claims a pecking order with them at the top.

As a Born Again Christian I am in opposition to any assembly of Christians that make those claims.

That is SINLESS , Keeping the law perfectly means having no personal sin (breaking the law)

So how exactly is that different than Jesus not breaking the law (having personal sin) ????

In order to be sinless one must keep the whole law perfectly..

This is a serious problem for the Catholic church..of course the obvious fix is just to remove the statement that Jesus was the only one to keep the law perfectly as we would not want to tamper with the eternal sinless virgin Mary.

Maybe they can work up another means of salvation :)

Were Adam and Eve sinners at their creation? Were they gods at their creation?

Adam and Eve were created innocent and without sin, but they , unlike the children born to them and their descendants, were able to choose to sin or not sin.. after the fall unregenerate man can not choose not to sin because he now has a sin nature.

It is not until the man is born again that he can once again choose to sin or not sin .

So can a pet parrot, but it too doesn't understand it. If you have grown mentally you should be able to handle and understand the real Catechism of the Catholic Church. I don't know why you continue to treat it like kryptonite instead of rehashing your childhood failures.

I am willing to allow the readers of the post to decide if what you said was an insult targeted at me..

Often when one has no response that has any weight they run for the insults instead of the bible...I strongly recommend the latter
