Works for me. Obviously, I mean as a theory. Religion and the religious- not so much... Equally obvious. When I was younger I couldn't get it why people need to grovel before an imaginary alpha male. As I got older I gradually came to accept that people just do although I'll never understand why. But then I'll never understand Klingon, paedophilia or liberal economics either.
