Perhaps you don't understand the scripture you posted...
Such were some of you; but you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God.
Such were some of them but now they are not...Why aren't they??? Because they quit drinking??? Or because they quit being covetous or quit fornicating??? The answer to that is no...There is nothing they could do to become righteous...
They have become righteous because they turned to Jesus and claimed Him for their Savior and He imputed HIS Righteousness to them...
1Co 5:9 I wrote unto you in an epistle not to company with fornicators:
1Co 5:10 Yet not altogether with the fornicators of this world, or with the covetous, or extortioners, or with idolaters; for then must ye needs go out of the world.
1Co 5:11 But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat.
1Co 5:12 For what have I to do to judge them also that are without? do not ye judge them that are within?
1Co 5:13 But them that are without God judgeth. Therefore put away from among yourselves that wicked person.
There are fornicators and covetous in God church...
There for certain are fornicators and covetous along with many other types of sinners in the Church. However, not everyone in church will see the Kingdom of God. For those who habitually continue on in in their sin there is no forgiveness as the Bible clearly points out. Forgiveness is based upon repentance which literally means to “think after” or “to perceive afterwards”. To change the mind, the seat of moral reflection. This results in a changed lifestyle and if that change does not occur salvation and the entire process of sanctification (separation to God and away from evil) is by definition missing.
I didn’t see anything the Cardinal said which conflicts with the Bible. He simply stated from what I can see that homosexuals who continue on in their sin and do not repent will not see the Kingdom of God which is Biblically correct.
