We, as Orthodox, Catholic, and Evangelical Christians, have gathered, beginning in New York on September 28, 2009, to make the following declaration, which we sign as individuals, not on behalf of our organizations, but speaking to and from our communities. We act together in obedience to the one true God, the triune God of holiness and love, who has laid total claim on our lives and by that claim calls us with believers in all ages and all nations to seek and defend the good of all who bear his image....
While the whole scope of Christian moral concern, including a special concern for the poor and vulnerable, claims our attention, we are especially troubled that in our nation today the lives of the unborn, the disabled, and the elderly are severely threatened; that the institution of marriage, already buffeted by promiscuity, infidelity and divorce, is in jeopardy of being redefined to accommodate fashionable ideologies; that freedom of religion and the rights of conscience are gravely jeopardized by those who would use the instruments of coercion to compel persons of faith to compromise their deepest convictions....
Because we honor justice and the common good, we will not comply with any edict that purports to compel our institutions to participate in abortions, embryo-destructive research, assisted suicide and euthanasia, or any other anti-life act; nor will we bend to any rule purporting to force us to bless immoral sexual partnerships, treat them as marriages or the equivalent, or refrain from proclaiming the truth, as we know it, about morality and immorality and marriage and the family. We will fully and ungrudgingly render to Caesar what is Caesars. But under no circumstances will we render to Caesar what is Gods.

Here’s how it started:

Then they took the tactic national, using not just Romney’s money, but the vast resources of his very wealthy supporters. In a massive way. Family Research Council. Focus on the Family. CNP. Heritage. The Federalist Society. “Christian” organizations with lots of political power in Iowa. And a whole lot more.
Hey, Romney is a leveraged buyout guy by trade. What does anyone expect? He pretty much owns the Republican Party now, along with most of its satellite “non-profit” organizations.
One of the amazing aspects of this is how cheaply some will sell their souls.
By the way, thanks for the kind words.
Incredible.
We have a very scary situation here. Say, Meg's husband has a different surname. Do you happen to know if this billionairess ebay Whitman descends from the early Mormons of the same surname? There is an early Mormon pioneer family who had a daughter named Margaret Whitman.
Is that how the ex-CEO of ebay originally teamed up with Mitt decades ago in business, was it a Mormon connection, do you know? It's none of my business, but I am just curious.
I don’t know. All I know is that Whitman is pro-abortion, pro-homosexual, pro-illegal alien, and that she has the full backing of the Romney machine.
In a sense, I actually feel sorry for Mitt, because I don't believe he has a chance for the presidency, and instead of facing facts, he's listening to syncophants who are advising him as his ego wants to hear and his syncophants probably really like being associated with big leverage big money.
Pure pathos, but not any of my business.
Say, do you have any idea why Ann Coulter has on occasion sounded SO very pro-Romney?
That one is inexplicable.
What I find saddest... among many sad things in this topic... is how some commentators occasionally state that Mitt is the "Only Electable" individual on the right of the political spectrum. Well, like all the rest of D.C. and all the rest of the MSM, they are utterly out of touch with regular American folks out here. (LOL)
As far as I can tell, thesw links doesn’t show anything more than Marks DeMoss’ support for Mitt Romney. It does nothing to discredit either the Manifesto itself nor its principal authors, Colson and George.
A couple of questions:
1. What does this document explicitly require of the signer?
2. Will its prominent signers have to change anything they’ve been doing in the political arena?
3. How well does their performance over the last few years match up with its words?

Does anyone know if Father Pavone has signed the ‘Manhattan Declaration’? I did not see his name on any signature list and nothing on his blog. Very curious, because I admire Father Pavone very much.
Excellent!
