“The Catholic Church is the only Authentic Christian church founded by the second person of the Blessed Trinity. That’s history, not conjecture.”

I'm not following this thread. I just passed by this post, and I wanted to make a comment on logic:

The post:

And if the Catholic Church at one time taught error...

And if raccoons had wings they could fly.

.................................

Are you claiming here that the Catholic Church never, ever, EVER taught an error? Not one, itsy bitsy error?

“What assurance do you have that your sins were forgiven?”

It’s called the Word of God and the Holy Spirit. The Spirit bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God. That’s the assurance—God Himself lives within. Don’t need the religious trappings to be aware of the Godhead living within.

I didn't know that you would be intellectually dishonest about this.

Wow, nice personal attack there.

Attack and run away.

I try to never argue with fools or liars.

...so...I guess I’ll just “run away” now.

Another personal attack. But no example of an error taught by the Catholic Church.

Have a nice day.

>>Two days after Anglicans are welcomed into the Catholic Church you post this.<<

Did you see that the Anglicans have a choice in the matter?

It’s up to God of course, but I’m sure the answer is “Yes.”

Yes, but not very likely, when you get down to details.

Normally I avoid trolls. In this case, I will make an exception. The Catholic Church is the only Authentic Christian church founded by the second person of the Blessed Trinity. That’s history, not conjecture.

Only if you believe Peter is the foundation of the church and Peter is the one who holds the keys to decides who gets into heaven or not. Those are absurd conclusions that conflict with everything in the Bible. Jesus is the rock the Church is to be built on which the evil can not overcome, and the sacrifice of Christ for our sins and his resurrection are the keys to heaven that was given not just to Peter but to everyone for those who believe.

Believe what you wish, just don’t dare play the hypocrite with history and others’ beliefs. And, by the way, the men other than Him that are involved are the original eleven Disciples of Christ. Who are you to denigrate them?

I am not denigrating any of them. I just don't see any connection with the Catholic church demands and what was taught by Christ. I pray that all receive the grace of God through their faith in Christ Jesus.

The article contains an example. For hundreds of years, the Catholic Church taught that anyone who wasn’t under the authority of the Pope was damned (”it is absolutely necessary for the salvation of every human creature to be subject to the Roman Pontiff.”). Now it claims that darn near all Christians might be saved.

And how is this done? By claiming that all Christians ARE subject to the Pope, even those who utterly REJECT the office and authority of the Pope.

So ‘no error’, just breath-taking intellectual dishonesty.

I was a Catholic until I read the Scriptures and kneeled in my house and asked Jesus the Son of God to save me from my sin and make me one of His own.

As I understand it, Catholics feel this is unnecessary since this is an 'automatic' result of being baptized...How would you address that???

Normally, whatever follows this is quite laughable.

PLEASE READ THIS THROUGH IN ITS ENTIRETY BEFORE POSTING COMMENTS!

Read it...I don't see where reading the whole thing will change anyone's mind...Doesn't say anything relevant...Just a sales pitch to join your religion...

We declare, say, define and pronounce, that it is absolutely necessary for the salvation of every human creature to be subject to the Roman Pontiff.

This is an accurate statement...This is the dogma of your religion...And you can't change it...

What you have done is to put a bunch of pillows around it to soften the blow...

Never once does this Shea guy suggest that one can have salvation outside of the declaration Boniface made as Catholic dogma...

What he does suggest is that since no one in your religion knows that he is going to heaven til he gets there, that it doesn't matter if one is a member of a non-Catholic church as long as the person was baptized, that that person can be considered a brother in Christ...

But the clincher is still the dogma...Everyone can be a brother in Christ but no one gets the ultimate salvation, trip to heaven, unless he submits to your pope before death as Boniface demands...

So everyone is a brother in the foggy persuit of salvation...

You may get a lot of lost suckers looking for a religious experience whom you have convinced to follow your tradition instead of the words of God to teach them but there are still plenty of sinners who are turning to Jesus and His word for the truth in salvation...And thank God for that...

**Can Non-Catholics Be Saved?**

I would say that even a Romanist can be saved!

What assurance do you have that your sins were forgiven?

The same assurance that you have...The scripture...

As a Catholic, you have one of the most beautiful gifts given by Christ - the Sacrament of Reconciliation. You recognize, of course, that in the Gospel of John 20:23 - Jesus says, "If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven. If you retain the sins of any, they are retained." In order for the apostles to exercise this gift of forgiving sins, the penitents must orally confess their sins to them because the apostles are not mind readers. The text makes this very clear.

Problem is the Apostles are dead and gone...So Jesus provided another way...

Heb 4:16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

We bypass the Apostles...They are gone...We go directly to Jesus as He told us to...
