They don’t sound like crazed Muslim extremists. They allowed their daughter to be on the cheerleading squad at a US public high school — just stepping out the front door in one of those outfits would be enough to cause the serious violent-extremist Muslims to kill their daughter on the spot, but these parents allowed her to participate in this activity in public.

Be careful with words like -- "They don't sound like", appearances can be deceptive.

They might not "look" or "sound" like extremists, yet, they attend a Muslim mosque named the Noor Islamic Cultural Center. Nearly two years ago, investigative reporter Erick Stakelbeck went to Columbus to examine the Noor Center's ties to terrorism and the mosque's resident scholar, international Hamas cleric Salah Sultan. He discovered that this past December Sultan appeared on Egyptian Al-Nas TV pontificating on the eventual murder of all the Jews, the forthcoming destruction of America, and citing the Protocols of the Elders of Zion as one of his authorities.

This same Imam appeared on Al-Risala TV claiming that the US government was behind the 9/11 attacks and praising Yemeni Al-Qaeda cleric and designated terrorist Abdul Majid al-Zindani

Are the Bary's simply occasional mosque attendees like Obama's claim that he was ignorant of the sermons of Jeremiah Wright ? Well, according to the American Thinker,

http://www.americanthinker.com/2009/09/is_newsweek_trying_to_kill_rif.html

"anyone who knew the Barys knew that they were heavily involved with the Noor Mosque, as they even hosted Noor gatherings in their home. It was people from the Noor Mosque who reported to Rifqa's parents themselves that they thought Rifqa was an apostate." This sounds as if there was more than a casual relationship between the Bary family and the Noor Mosque."

Here's another :

According to exhibits submitted by the Department of Justice during a terrorism finance trial, the CEO of the Noor Center, Hany Saqr, has direct ties to the Muslim Brotherhood.

"The Muslim Brotherhood of North America is an international organization which was responsible for birthing every Islamic terror organization in the world, including al-Qaida," Stemberger said. "So, when you think about al-Qaida, you can think that the Muslim Brotherhood is responsible for al-Qaida's existence."

Saqr had also been an imam, or Islamic religious leader, for another mosque in the same area of Columbus at the same time the largest-known al-Qaida cell in the United States was operating out of that mosque

Saqr's subordinate, Ismail Elbarasse, was one of the top Hamas operatives in the country and had provided at least $735,000 to Hamas at that time. Saqr was also listed as a high-ranking Muslim Brotherhood official in a 1992 phone directory recovered from the home of a Hamas operative.

Mousa Abu Marzook, another operational head of the Hamas terrorist organization that operated out of the U.S. placed numerous calls to Saqr's home.

Given the above evidence, if I were judge, I would thoroughly investigate all of the above before even allowing Rifqa to go home and even attend that Mosque of her parents were to tell her to do so.

Definitely warrants investigation. Though my guess would be that some of the more zealous members of the mosque would be a much bigger threat to Rifqa than her parents, and that makes the case much less about Rifqa than about the mosque. If that mosque is really encouraging its members to go out and kill apostates, then a whole lot of people are at risk. For the time being, her exact location needs to be kept under wraps — no more stunts like Pastor Lorenz putting her on TV. Even if there never was any real threat to her to begin with, the fact that these pastors have encouraged her to make all these grandiose statements about what a huge deal it is that she’s converted to Christianity and what a big honor it would be for some Muslim to kill her over it, and have aided and abetted her in getting these statements on TV, YouTube, and all over the print media, it’s safe to say that there are now at least a few zealous jihadist maniacs who are feeling inspired to track her down and kill her. I know there are plenty of those types lurking around our country, whether her parents are among them or not.

As for their mosque affiliation, I don’t really know how many choices of mosques they have in Columbus. They may have just affiliated with “the” mosque, rather than having an array to choose from and choosing one with some serious radical ties because it most closely matched their own beliefs. It really doesn’t sound to me like they were terribly active Muslims of any sort, between the cheerleader daughter who seemed to be unsupervised most of the time, and the booze-partying teenage son, and the father out of town on business much of the time. Though I certainly hope authorities are digging into the nature of his business, which is some sort of gem dealing — could very well be perfectly legitimate, but it’s also the sort of business that could be convenient for international money laundering.
