I ask that the community please remember me in your prayers over the next few days. I totally unexpectedly lost my job this morning. It was totally unforeseen, so I am in quite a state of shock and anxiety. I had thanked God many times during the day over the past two years for this job, I believed it was his gift to me for the many challenges I've had in life. I am alone, so I will appreciate your remembering me.
Your next job/business will be so much better
.
Sorry to hear about your job loss.
Similar thing happened to family member. In his case
he thought he was going in to discuss a raise and they
let him go.
He was in shock for a few days.
Then he joined a networking group which got him out of the house and helped him overcome his normal shyness. He learned about “informatinal interviewing” there.
Since there were no job openings in his field, he just started networking and doing informational interviews with employers where he wantet to work.
One was so impressed with them they offered him a job, even though they didn’t have any advertised openings at the time.
This is was with a very large company.
Hang in there. After you get over the shock. Hit the ground running and take action. Join a networking and support group and try informational interviewing.
You could have a similar success.
Just remember that song, “God Will Take Care of You.”
God Bless you! I will definitely keep you in my prayers. I hope that a new job comes your way very soon.
Absolutely. Some time after, I went on to a better job which I enjoyed doing more than any other I had done in the past, made more than I had ever made (completely unexpected given the economic climate of the day) all in all just more satisfying than anything before. I firmly believe losing a job, for whatever reason, is an opportunity and it means God is forcing you to move up - something you wouldn't otherwise do sitting on your lazy rear end. Sure there will be some initial hardships but it will all work out in the end.
I did.
I will as well. I had the same thing happen to me last December. I still have not found a job. Good Luck.
You WILL get through this. Take care of yourself. Make sure each day you do something physical, something spiritual and something that benefits you mentally. Nuture all those aspects of yourself. Remember, one day at a time. You, and all the others mentioned here in need, will be in my prayers to God.
I found out yesterday that my position is being deleted, so I’m in the same boat. 53 years old, going blind, and about to be unemployed.
I lost my 6 figure banking job (Wells Fargo) last December and still have not found work. You are right it is devastating for the family.
Prayers for you and don’t forget to sign up for unemployment. You can also go to school now for free in a lot of states(most of them I believe), you might take advantage of that. The computer can be a great asset in finding jobs. I have been through the “no job suddenly” scenario twice in my life and they were both over a period of about 8 years, it is quite a shock to suddenly find yourself out of work. However, the shock will wear off soon and your survival instincts will kick in.
Please look at this thread and this thread -- might give some ideas.
Also, Northrop, SAIC, Lockheed Martin, Raytheon, and L-3 (as well as smaller contractors) are all hiring.
All the best to you and your family. My son has three kids and it’s just awful to see them in such need.
May your search be successful.
Prayers, Nodems. It must have been a terrible feeling. What a shock. Hang in there, many prayers for you.
Something better is coming?
something else the Lord wants you to do?
My daughter has been looking for a job since she lost hers last November...finally, after using Craig’s list she found job working 4 days a week...GOOD LUCK AND GOD BLESS YOU!
All the advice is good advice 1) resume; 2) unemployment benefits; 3) reeducate; 4) register at the state job's site; 5) get whatever work you can. 5-6 months from now, you'll have something and even though you start out a little lower, your experience and ability will push you faster than you went before. It takes about 5 years to recover, but you'll make it.
There will be higher than a kite days and lower than whale caca days, but you'll make it.
Praying now. You are in God’s hands, don’t forget.
Hang in there, You will get through it. Both my wife and I were both layed off in January and are still doing fine. My advice, if you have difficulty finding another job, is to suck every cent and benefit you can out of the government. If we can starve the beast we maybe able to hasten it’s demise. Keep your head held high and good luck.
Numbers 6
24 The LORD bless thee, and keep thee:
25 The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee:
26 The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.
Philippians 4
6 Be careful [anxious] for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
