Catholics have a different understanding of Revelation than many Protestants. We reject premillenialist eschatology as in error, based on major inconsistencies in Scripture. If you take premillenialist theories and try to uniformally apply them to the Book of Revelation as a whole, they do not work very well to make sense of the text in its entirety, and there are verses that directly contradict a premillenialist view. If there is or was an anti-Christ in modern times, it would have been Nietszche, who loudly proclaimed he was the anti-Christ, even wrote a book with that title, and rejected Christ--yet has had a profound influence on the West. It is difficult to identify a more influential thinker in recent history than Nietzsche.
