Lots of Americans listen to what Michael Moore says. Lots of Americans listen to Al Sharpton. For right now, neither’s ideas are the policy nor teachings of the Catholic Church.
That may well be, but it still stands that because he is a Catholic figure and well loved, people will listen for that reason. The others you mention are not Christian or revered Catholic figures.
