My greatest concern is that when judgment comes to God's people, many will self-righteously proclaim that they are being persecuted for righteousness sake. We MUST realize that we have been asleep to God's will, asleep to God's battle, and asleep to God's call to speak out the truth of His Word. We have embraced the very church that God Himself separated us from in the 16th century - the Roman Catholic Church.

We have been systematically dismantling the Protestant Reformation of 1517. We no longer recognize the necessity of Sola Fida (Only Faith), Sola Scriptura (Only Scripture) and Sola Gratia (Only Grace). Many Christians, especially Charismatics, comfortably co-exist with Rome. We have made ourselves ripe for the judgment of both Christian and heathen alike in our country. We are more concerned about creating a unity that is not of God than in believing and obeying the truth of God in the Scriptures.

I'll sure give that one an Amen!

But Charismatics aren't the only ones who "comfortably co-exist with Rome." Many Protestants, and especially Evangelicals, simply do not know what Rome believes, and therefore think of them as brothers and sisters in Christ when the compliment is not returned since the pope says we're members of "defective churches."

Thankfully, forums like Free Republic are alerting people to what Rome actually believes and teaches.

"The Reformation is dying daily in our day when the Ecumenical Movement, and other forces like unto it, wish to soften the antithesis with Rome today. I want to assure you that it's not my pugnacious debating nature that makes me say we must exalt that antithesis and guard it. It's my love for the Lord Jesus Christ and the purity of His word.

Rome has not essentially changed. Rome declared that what it said at the time of the Reformation was infallible and could not change. Declared it to be irreformible truth. Rome has not changed and precious truths of God's word are still worth upholding even at the cost of unity even at the cost of being considered "troublemakers" in the religious world. We need to guard the antithesis against the destructive error of Rome." -- Dr. Greg L. Bahnsen, from a tape, THE REFORMATION, October 28, 1990.

Is anti-Catholicism a tenet of Free Republic? I could understand if the poster said that protestants on the Religion Forum were "alerting people to what Rome actually believes and teaches," but NOT Free Republic itself. If I am mistaken, and Free Republic is busy "alerting people to what Rome actually believes and teaches," please let me know.

Surely there is room for ALL beliefs here on Free Republic?

If that first sentence up there is true, then what are Catholics doing here?

Thought you might have some sympathy with part of that!

LOL.

It appears that the Rabid Rock Thread Trashing Brigade is late today.

Maybe they are polishing their . . . ‘aids to worship.’

Or perhaps stuck in some endless bead loop.

I certainly learned much of what Rome teaches right here on FR and it’s been quite an eye-opening journey. I now pray for them.

As a Catholic, I find that statement to be completely wonderful and comforting. The Protestant admission that Rome has not changed is the most amazing praise. We are, as Christ promised, still here, still led by the Holy Spirit, still holding fast to the teaching and tradition taught by the Apostles, and still being called “troublemakers.” This happy Catholic finds that exhilarating.

The world has changed. Men have fallen away and started their own churches. But the Catholic Church is virtually the same as it was in the days of the Apostles. The gates of Hell, and Hell’s helpers, have not prevailed against it. Christ started it, prayed for it, and protects and guides it. It is forever. Thank you, Jesus! I am so grateful to be a Catholic Christian.
