I have been told, here at FR, that God only creates lesser beings.
Is this because he chooses not to create someone equal to Himself, or is God unable to create someone equal to Himself?

You aren’t thinking about Jesus are you?
Jesus is begotten, not made. One substance with the Father.

Fred when asking such a question, you should do so with a full disclaimer as to your faith since it will, and has attracted many outside of our usual group.

“Which God are we referring to?
The jealous and vindictive one of the Old Testament, or the loving
One in the New Testament?”
Same God. Have you read Revelations??
He is also loving and holy.

Perhaps he’s trying to find a reason to believe, and hasn’t yet found one...

Can God create another God? Many Democrats obviously seem to think so.

This is the kind of question a schoolboy asks hoping to distract the teacher from her lesson plan.
How many angels can dance on the head of a pin?
What is the outer limits of infinity?
Was Mr. Ed really a zebra painted to look like a palamino horse?

“Wouldn’t your theory depend on whether space is positively or negatively curved?”
We are dealing with space-time which is curved. Space can be flat or positively or negatively curved by itself, but that is only half of the equation.
This illustration may help you to visualize it : ) http://curious.astro.cornell.edu/question.php?number=649

It is not that he doesn't believe in God, it's that he believes in too many of them...

File that question in the ‘How Many Angels Can Dance on the Head of a Pin’ folder. That, or the ‘Useless Conundrums’ file.

If he could, why would he want to or even have to? Since the fall of Adam, Man is doing a great job of creating other Gods himself.
To: MyTwoCopperCoins
It is not in this post, hence the reason I mentioned the disclaimer, it would provided clarity and an insight in the the true motivation of the question.
I will leave it to the initial poster to reveal all that, however a cursory review of his history would be more than sufficient to answer the question.

Dumb question. There can be only 1 God. It’s possible to ask the question, but it’s meaningless.
