I have been told, here at FR, that God only creates lesser beings.
Is this because he chooses not to create someone equal to Himself, or is God unable to create someone equal to Himself?

No, it's simply a logical impossibility. There cannot exist two omnipotent beings.
But, if He is omnipotent, then surely, He defines logic. Otherwise, there would exist a superior Power (logic). I'm sure He just hasn't got around to it.

God can do anything He desires.
He is consistent with the being of God there is no contradiction in Him. the question being could God make another God? the better question would be why would God make another God? He is sufficient as He is and to imply that He could make another God is not consistent with His being.

I hope so, but that question doesn’t seem like the sort of thing one would ask if they were seeking. However, I’m unable to read the poster’s mind, so your point is a good one.

Are you sure you exist? Maybe we’re all just characters in a book someone is reading and when they’re done reading the book....POOF! Did you ever see the movie Dark City? I find that kind of stuff fascinating to think about.
