PRAY for our Nation & President Obama - Day 90

Heavenly Father, I come to You this evening in prayer for my nation and for its leadership. It's very hard to know how to pray specifically for the people other than to take their obvious condition - as sinners who disdain You and Your ways - and pray that You would change their hearts. We are frustrated and angry about what has happened in our country; and yet, we know that You still orchestrate the events of history in some fashion that meets Your higher goal. Is Your goal that our nation fall apart and be judged? I don't know. I wouldn't blame You if it were. But, perhaps that is not Your plan. Scripture says Your ways aren't our ways but are higher than our own ways. And so, we rest in Your wisdom.

I never forget that old Spurgeon quote that says : "God is too good to be unkind, too wise to be mistaken, and when you cannot trace His hand, you can always trust His heart.” Tonight, we rest in that truth and look to You as our only hope for this nation and our own personal lives.

It is in Jesus' blessed and holy name that I pray these things, Amen.

The Consuming Wrath of God

2A jealous and avenging God is the Lord,
the Lord is avenging and wrathful;
the Lord takes vengeance on his adversaries
and rages against his enemies.
3The Lord is slow to anger but great in power,
and the Lord will by no means clear the guilty.

His way is in whirlwind and storm,
and the clouds are the dust of his feet.
4He rebukes the sea and makes it dry,
and he dries up all the rivers;
Bashan and Carmel wither,
and the bloom of Lebanon fades.
5The mountains quake before him,
and the hills melt;
the earth heaves before him,
the world and all who live in it.

6Who can stand before his indignation?
Who can endure the heat of his anger?
His wrath is poured out like fire,
and by him the rocks are broken in pieces.
7The Lord is good,
a stronghold on a day of trouble;
he protects those who take refuge in him,
8 even in a rushing flood.
He will make a full end of his adversaries,*
and will pursue his enemies into darkness.
9Why do you plot against the Lord?
He will make an end;
no adversary will rise up twice.
10Like thorns they are entangled,
like drunkards they are drunk;
they are consumed like dry straw.
11From you one has gone out
who plots evil against the Lord,
one who counsels wickedness.

Good News for Judah

12Thus says the Lord,
‘Though they are at full strength and many,*
they will be cut off and pass away.
Though I have afflicted you,
I will afflict you no more.
13And now I will break off his yoke from you
and snap the bonds that bind you.’

14The Lord has commanded concerning you:
‘Your name shall be perpetuated no longer;
from the house of your gods I will cut off
the carved image and the cast image.
I will make your grave, for you are worthless.’

15*Look! On the mountains the feet of one
who brings good tidings,
who proclaims peace!
Celebrate your festivals, O Judah,
fulfil your vows,
for never again shall the wicked invade you;
they are utterly cut off.

For they who lead this people cause them to err, and they who are led [astray] by them are swallowed up (destroyed).

Father God,
The USA is a constitutional government, a free republic, where the leaders are not rulers or kings, but elected representatives of the people. The rule of law, not the rule of man, governs this nation. When elected rulers forget that or abuse that, the Declaration of Indepence, written by the founders of this nation, states: ...it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security.

It is this I pray, according to the USA's definition of leader---> preserve our rebulic. There is a battle raging, and only You, Almighty God, can help. It is You in whom I turn to for help. It is You alone who can deliver us from this evil. Rip them out, tear them up by the roots, those leaders who are designing to change our government and do not heed Your words. Cause their efforts and plans to fail. Set a standard against them.
Place citizen leaders in offices who will rule in Your godly wisdom and knowledge, not causing the people to err, but by their righteous leadership, lead people to wisdom and knowledg.

Father,
Please help us to know there is a new begining in Christ, even when we are in trouble. Give us the heart to thank You for all circumstances, and help us to grow faithfully. Show us a vision of a grand future in Christ. In Jesus name,Amen
