This is a very positive direction for your church to take - good going, Catholic brethren! Gorgeous music opens the soul to insights that transcend the strictly rational, and upon such insights faith depends.
I love Gregorian chant, though I’m not Catholic. It is so serene and haunting. I learned a couple of chants during my high school choir days, and I still occasionally find myself singing sections of them. A chant, once learned, really sticks with you!
I would love to hear this in my church.
The expanded use of Gregorian Chant and the reinstitution of what was once called “High Mass” will reinvigorate the Latin Church and lead to renewed faithfulness and an appreciation of the sacred nature of the liturgy. This was the point of the EP’s sermon at the Divine Liturgy chanted at Constantinople in the Patriarchial church when the Pope visited a few years back.
BTW, I’ll be chanting the Kyrie in a couple of hours, the Sanctus too, though in Greek of course!
It’s all Palin’s fault.
