SSPX leader: Jews are "a people of deicide" (2nd priest speaks out)
The Deacon's Bench ^ | January 29, 2009 | Deacon Greg Kandra

Posted on 01/30/2009 10:12:00 AM PST by NYer

Another member of the SSPX has decided to share his thoughts about the Holocaust with the world:

In the wake of a global furor triggered by Pope Benedict XVI’s decision to lift the excommunication of four traditionalist Catholic bishops, including one who cast doubt on the Holocaust, another leader in the traditionalist Society of St. Pius X has questioned whether the Nazis used gas chambers for anything other than “disinfection,” and said that people who hold revisionist views on the Holocaust are not anti-Semites.

Fr. Floriano Abrahamowicz, a pastor and spokesperson for the Society of St. Pius X in northeastern Italy, also referred to Jews as “a people of deicide,” referring to the death of Christ, and suggested that the Jewish Holocaust has been “exalted” over what he called “other genocides,” such as the Allied bombing of German cities and the Israeli occupation of the Gaza strip.

On the other hand, Abrahamowicz insisted that the traditionalist movement founded by the late French Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre is not “anti-Semitic.” Among other things, Abrahamowicz said, he himself has Jewish roots on his father’s side.

The comments came in a Jan. 29 interview with the Italian newspaper La Tribuna di Treviso.
You can read more, and the full translation of his interview, at the NCR link.

Really? Please explain. Also, does your religious group excommunicate people for lying? If not, please also explain that.

Years ago before I became Catholic, I came across a prayer written by Pope John XIII: “The mark of Cain is stamped upon our foreheads. Across the centuries, our brother Abel has lain in blood which we drew, and shed tears we caused by forgetting Thy love. Forgive us, Lord, for the curse we falsely attributed to their name as Jews. Forgive us for crucifying Thee a second time in their flesh. For we knew not what we did.”

Jesus chose to become Incarnate and live as a Jewish boy and man, born of a Jewish woman, to live in the land of Israel. He chose Jewish men to be the apostles to bring the Gospel to the gentiles. He voluntarily laid down His Life, nobody took it from Him. Christians believe He voluntarily died and rose from the dead for the redemption of all people. Crucifixion was a pagan Roman form of execution. Do people hate Italians because of the Roman’s crucified Jesus? Not that I know of. To me, if a Christian group of any kind hates the Jewish people, they are hating Jesus, Mary, Joseph, and the apostles, whether they realize it or not.

Well, if they allow lying, then they can’t stand for the Truth.

As simple as that.

I don't belong to any religious group.

SSPX should rid themselves

See my 56. Do not expect everyone in the SSPX to speak with the same voice. There will be a major shakedown before wheat separates from the tares.

What a lot of people don't get about the Catholic Church is the effect of the principle of subsidiarity.

Its main effect is that we are extraordinarily good at not letting the left hand know what the right hand is doing. I'm not sure it's just exactly how the Lord meant that remark, but it's kind of an approximation.

That is despicable. However, I do not believe that anti-Semetism by itself is cause for excommunication. I can say without hesitation that I have NEVER met a Catholic who has expressed this type of hatred.

My suspicion is that there is a group within SSPX which is unhappy about the excommunication being lifted and they are doing everything they can to embarrass the Pope.

You didn't answer my question.

Nor have they 'allowed' lying. Lying is a sin and he should repent and confess his sins. Also, you do not know if he is lying. He may believe what he is saying.

So, if you get caught in a lie will you be excommunicated from your relgious organization? Is your organization filled with people that have never, ever, committed a sin? If you have people who have told lies and sinned does that mean that you all do not stand for Truth?

Please let me know what community you are a part of as it is obviously filled with perfect people.

The pope has lifted the excommunication on 4 SSPX bishops but they are still separated from the Catholic Church.

Are you sure about that? They are certainly Catholics in a membership sense, even more so now. Regarding their status as clergy, I thought you yourself suggested in one thread that the issue of "licitness vs. validity" applied here. In other words, (most) sacraments they celebrate and have celebrated are valid. Not arguing here, just trying to get a clarification.

I've found it!!!

I want to reiterate that this is a right wing, Traditionalist site, not a mainstream conservative Catholic site. But that is what makes its stance against anti-Semitism all the more remarkable.

The lady is Teresa Stanfill-Benns, who formerly supported "Pope Michael" but apparently no longer does and has been "excommunicated" by him.

The site is betrayedcatholics.com, and the page dealing specifically with anti-Semitism is to be found here.

It's certainly a . . . ::ahem:: . . . "unique" site!

Lifting of SSPX Excommunication Just the Beginning

Yeah, I agree with you in post #55, but I jumped the gun into thinking they might be restored to their former status as priests and bishops. Sometimes I jump ahead of the conversation without thinking. If they remain in laity, then people can ignore them and maybe even tell them to shut their pie hole when they start their rant.

If they are restored to office, then THAT's a problem for the church.

In another thread about kicking baby murderers out of the church, Kennedy, Kerry, Pelosi, Biden, and many others could be disciplined IMHO, because they have made public their views and have participated in forming anti Christian laws. They are just pew sitters in the Church, but should the government of the church get involved with members when they actively renounce church teaching? If you are a member that believes in gay marriage, fine, but when you lobby others and form groups to undermine the church to push your anti Christian agenda, what then? At least a denial of Sacraments until you conform? Something? Anything?

Lying is a sin and he should repent and confess his sins. Also, you do not know if he is lying. He may believe what he is saying.

If lying is a sin, then there should be consequences for engaging in that sin. It should not be condoned.

Are you really saying that in spite of all the evidence relating to the holocaust, any sane person can really not believe that the horrible things happened? If yes, then the Church should be careful about whom it chooses as its leaders.

“one of the things that discredits the entire chr*stian religion and its claims at being Judaism’s legitimate “successor.””

Not to get into another long, drawn-out argument, but I stand by that statement. The idea that the Chosen People of the "old testament" magically change into "the enemies of G-d" and/or "the serpent race" in the "new" is simply unbelievable, and was obviously created specifically as an excuse to start a new religion.

I know a family whose infant poop in their pants and they are not thrown out right away. I guess they can’t stand for hygiene.
