Really? Where are you getting that from?
Are sheep righteous if they will not follow their shepherd?
Herein lies the problem. In the East the faithful are called Laos tou Theou, the People of God, aka Israel. In the West they are called sheep, among the dumbest of animals. It says a lot about our Churches, doesn't it?
The reason the people rejected it is because the party that came back from Florence brought with them things unknown to the Church, things the Church never taught and never practiced and never believed in the East.
We believe how we pray. The liturgy is the life of the Church. You change one iota in the liturgy and the people will will ask why change something that wad good for 2000 years, and by whose authority.
The sheep ask nothing.
Jesus calls them "sheep", as well. You got problems with that? The term 'sheep' is used in both the OT and the NT to refer to the People of God. I am not liking where you are heading with this conversation, Kosta. My original comments were to point out that the East should get to know the Western theology better, rather than thinking about the wrongs they feel compelled to remember from 800 years ago (which has nothing to do with Catholicism...) If there is a true desire for reunification, it cannot happen while the typical laity in the East have your attitude that we are just "dumb sheep".
We laity in the West are largely indifferent towards the East. There is not an Orthodox Church 150 miles from where I live. In large cities, there may only be one or two Orthodox churches. Orthodoxy is largely unknown here. It appears, however, that the Eastern laity universally hates Catholics, based on the same polemic tracts put out centuries ago... Reunification must come from both sides, Kosta.
Regards

I got the reference to sheep from the bible, not Rome.
