I understand that to be your opinion, and I point out to you that it was not the Early Church's understanding, since we see in Acts entire households being baptized based on the decision for Christ made by the adults.
I don’t believe baptism to be salvific, nor do most of the reformed, so having the entire family baptized is fine. It was a command to believe and be baptized. But the believing came first. When a child becomes of an accountable age and can ask Jesus to come into his or her life, then they SHOULD be baptized.
