That's changing the subject and an insufficient defense for your position.

There is no evidence in Scripture that the office of the apostles continued on after their deaths.

After Christ rose from the dead, there is now a priesthood of all believers, encouraged by pastors, teachers and fellow Christians, all led by the Holy Spirit.

It is not changing the subject, it is explaining why a defense satisfactory to you will not be forthcoming.

An examination of the Gospels and Acts might be helpful.

The Church, as well as the gifts of the Holy Spirit, began at Pentecost which does occur not only after Christ rose from the dead, but after He Ascended. The officers of the Church received the Holy Spirit in the closed room. Not a universal priesthood of all believers receiving all gifts and talents (Matt 25:15-30), but each person is called to his calling by God.
