The charismatics I’ve known, at least in the past 25 years in my own experience in my church, have been the most loving and the least judgemental Christians I’ve known. They have loved me (and others), supported me, prayed for me, surrounded me when I needed that, cared for me. I am so grateful for the charismatic movement. Sure, some of it did get out of hand, but God has been refining us and most of the charismatic, spirit-filled churches around us are well balanced between the Word and Worship, the gifts of the Holy Spirit and such. I praise God for them.
My mother is a spiritual rock, she has been a great example. Surprisingly enough I am the one who gets mad at her for not teaching me things that she had growing up, like the rosary. I am now more devout than she is. Still she credits her Catholic upbringing for protecting her from the social ills that really hurt an entire generation. My personal experiences make me appreciate the many great traditions of our Catholic faith. I'm sure there are many exceptions. There are exceptions for everybody. I believe what I believe, not because of the "magesterium", we all learn from our experiences.
Mary, please try to get my entire argument. I wasn’t arguing against charismatics or the charismatic movement. I was exhibiting a kind of response. What you are responding to was a kind of play-acting, and was billed as such.
Soooooooooo blessed to read that. Wish that were so all over.
AMEN! AMEN! AMEN!
