(AGI) - Vatican City, May 29 - A woman being consecrated as priest besides being invalid, automatically leads to the excommunication of the consecrating bishop and the consecrated woman. A decree issued by the Congregation for Religious Doctrine published today by the 'Osservatore Romano' establishes this. "The Congregation for Religious Doctrine, to protect the nature and validity of the sacrament of the holy order, in virtue of the special faculty to be consecrated by the supreme authority decrees that both the one trying to consecrate a woman in the holy order, and the woman who has tried to receive the holy order, will be excommunicated 'latae sententiae', reserved to the Apostolic See". Such decree is true for all rites in communion with Rome. The text continues that "if he who has tried to consecrate a woman in the holy order or if the woman who has tried to receive the holy order is a faithful subject of the Code of the Rules of the Oriental Churches, he or she will be punished by excommunication, pardon can only be given by the Apostolic See". The decree, specifies the former Holy See, "will come into immediate force from the moment of publication in the 'Osservatore Romano'".
Lest anyone still harbor any doubts, ping!
But priests who give the sacrament to supporters of abortion do not get excommunicated.
Why I am NOT a Catholic!
Part of the reason St Stanislaus here is in trouble is that they put two “womynpriests” on their board.
From what I’ve read, most of these consecrations have been performed in secret. Does the excommunication occur when it happens or when it is discovered?
KNOWN abortion supporters maybe...but the logistical impossibility of determining who exactly IS a supporter and who is NOT a supporter kinda' makes this concept hard to implement, however laudable the ends...
IMHO, this would have been the appropriate time to also include the lispers, feyers, and other metrosexual feminine wanabees trapped in a man’s body.
An example of effective church discipline. Glad to see it.
Yes.

News today in Springfield is that Fr. Bozack has been excommunicated.
I understand your concerns, and there are Bishops who are beginning to tell politicians, who support Abortion rights, to not present themselves for Holy Communion. If someone comes up for Communion and is a Catholic, I don’t think Priests ask a person in the Communion line whether they are in state of Grace and thus full communion with God and the Church. It is up to an individual to discern their conscious and not present themself for Communion. Some Bishops are beginning to publicy state that if a Politician publicly states, “I am a Catholic and I personally, blah, blah, but I support x y, or z”, which contradicts Church teaching, then that person should not go to Communion. Cardinal Egan recently asked Rudy Guliani to not go to Communion and the Governor of Kansas was told the same thing by her Local Bishop. Abp Burke of St. Louis, Chaput of Denver have done the same thing.
So, the tide is slowly turning.
DUH!!!
Oh PLEASE! You aren’t a Catholic because you are probably a doubter or LAZY and WEAK...not because a Priest gives Holy Communion to a person who MIGHT have gone to CONFESSION about their pro-abortion views!!
***So, the tide is slowly turning.***
With the sterling work done by JPII and the .999 gold work being done by BXVI, I think that the tide has already turned.
A very strong indicator of this is the increasingly close relationship with the East. With God’s help, the schism will end in my lifetime; I pray for this and for His Church, and for us all.
“An example of effective church discipline. Glad to see it.”
“An example of effectively keeping the church male dominated and 1,500 years behind the times.” Not glad to see it. There, I fixed it.
Excellent!
The takes issue with the Can't ..............
This is a rhetorical question - but why does the MSM single out the Catholic Church for criticism when it seeks to maintain its catechism and beliefs, and tries to maintain order in the Church? Has one ever heard a news report of Gays wanting to be married in a Synoguage or Mosque? I am sure there also are women who are seeking to become Rabbis, no? Where are the reports on that? Has the MSM ever asked the Tibetans why their Lamas are never reincarnated as women? Isn’t that sexist? Where are the protesters?
The Catholic Church has the unique distinction of trying to defend the faith against persecution - not necessarily of outright Governmental type (although some is there), but rather the unprecedented persecution of society.
