I don’t think I disagree, but rather I think we should recognize as Americans people have the right to take a position that is opposed to what we believe is moral. The Church is about morality, but the Constitution is about freedom. The two are not always the same at all, and I respect my libertarian brothers even though we disagree on many things. We have to separate our political views and our religious views to a degree IMO. I doubt you and I really disagree at all morally.
Obviously under the constitution people can go to hell on their own.
How can you be free if you are a slave to sin in thought and deed? You are talking about liberty, not true freedom. The most free being I know if is God and there is no sin in Him.
I know, this is turning into a theological discussion but when talking about the Constitution and what rights we have, we should look at what the people who wrote it believed, not what we want it to mean. The Declaration of Independence lists life as the first of unalienable rights granted by God to man because it is the most important.
Like Reagan said "Abortion is advocated only by persons who have themselves been born." They have already been granted the gift of life but wish to deprive others of the gift from God. That is tyranny at its worst.
