Sorry. Wrong. The "keys of the kingdom of heaven" are indicative of Peter's authority. Totally biblical (and historical). The verb in Matthew 16:19 is future tense. And Yah'shua still has the keys in Revelation 1:18.

"There is no authority but the Lord himself. Each of us report directly to the Father, under the authority of the Son. There are no middle men in the Kingdom." Funny that Christ appointed a bunch of them (they were called "Apostles"). And those Apostles appointed bishops, who ordained priests and deacons. This "is" all in Scripture. You "do" believe Scripture, don't you????
And their successors are still "around and doing" today.

"The verb in Matthew 16:19 is future tense." Of course it was. Peter didn't come into his authority until after Pentecost.
"And Yah'shua still has the keys in Revelation 1:18."
Cheez---you think the King doesn't have more than one set??

The keys in Rev 1:18 are the keys of hell and death.

Acts 20:17,28
presbuteros = elders = episkopos = bishops = poimen = pastors = the same people/functions, namely the elders of Ephesus church. Just a point of info.

Mat 16:19 And I will give to thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven. And whatsoever thou shalt bind upon earth, it shall be bound also in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth, it shall be loosed also in heaven.

Now, now, we ALL know that Christ gave the Keys to a rock who WAS NOT Peter, what the rock did with them is anyone’s guess and since the Bible is silent they were probably lost. Someone with a metal detector may find an old key ring with an Aramaic inscription that says, “Property of Heaven, if found drop in any mailbox.”

It really doesn’t matter, because Benny Hinn decided to slum it in a Gulfstream IV and spent the extra money upgrading Heaven to keycards.

When Yah'shua was speaking it, there were no verse numbers only full thoughts.

But now there are numbers and you gave me the number of a verse that does not mention keys.

I got a notion on my way to Mass. Our protestant brethren tend to think that having authority means having power, being able to push people around and tell them what to do and think and all.
We tend to think having authority means bearing a great responsibility, being VERY accountable, voluntarily imperiling yourself.

Good point. We don’t say “the floor of hell is paved with the skulls of bishops” for nothing.
To: Mad Dawg
I know that’s how I think of it, not some fresh tyranny, but rather the burden of duty.

All words are used by Paul in the same conversation addressed to the same group of men, the elders of the church at Ephesus.
