"Jesus Christ is of no denomination. The Catholic Church is no denomination, in our opinion."
That’s not entirely true. Many churches have beautiful stained glass windows with Jesus and the Lamb. We have two oil paintings that depict him in our sanctuary. Quite lovely. Our services are always pointed to Jesus, as is our worship. Our church is unusual in some respects because we are a balanced spirit filled church, coming out of a Baptist tradition. The Word is so important as are prayer and intercession. Bible Studies, children’s ministries, senior ministries, a vibrant college ministry, missions (we have many young people who have gone on missions to forgien lands), etc. We aren’t ‘wildly’ charismatic but we believe in all the gifts of the Spirit. I’m glad God brought me here (and I did meet my husband here, too!)
Ya got me, honey.
As you may recall though, denominations aren't the issue.
Doctrine is the issue.
Who brought up "denomination"? Not me. Who asked what denomination IHS XP was? Not me.
I just saw a ball come across the plate and took a swing at it .
We don’t have pictures of Him on the throne. We just acknowledge that He is on the throne of our hearts, or SHOULD be if we let Him.
I used to have a Bible that would give you readings from the OT, NT and Psalms for the day. I’ll have to see if I still have that one. I also have a chronological Bible.
AMEN, AMEN, AMEN!!
Not ALL Catholics are Christians and not all Christians are Catholics. It is a personal decision whether to receive Christ into your life. I would pray that all would believe in Him and receive Him into their lives but we all know that many will not.
And it means the Body of Christ, even those who have no church to go to or have to meet in underground or house churches, like many in foreign lands.
And husbands are the priests of their homes (at least Christian ones).
There are heresies in every denomination. We keep trying to get it right but there are things we never really will know for sure because they are mysteries and God hasn’t revealed them YET. Don’t be a pot calling the kettle black, dear narses. There are plenty of heresies to go around in all of our denominations.
Uh, Catholic?
My husband says that all the time and he heard it way before we had Rush. Rush copied it from...someone. Let me see, I think it was a famous ball player but can’t remember.
And there are many people within those denominations who DO have Christ’s DNA.
"Uh, Catholic?"
Yorkshire...White ones...
Did you pasture them or what?
Pastured the females that were too young to breed...The rest were kept in pens...
What, short of the Berlin Wall, can keep a pig where you want it?
Wire fence, into the ground about a foot, strand of electric and nose rings...And a lot of spare fence for repairs...
You figure that if the gates of Hell did prevail against YOUR church, it would cease to exist??? Or could Satan, who we know is very religious, use it as a deception???
The Pope is the head of the Pope's church.
AMEN!

I commend to you our sister Phoebe, a servant of the church in Cenchrea.
Since you've reposted this, I will again point out that this post is false. By restating it, you bear false witness against us.
I bore true witness when I quoted from CCC #79:
... And the Holy Spirit, through whom the living voice of the Gospel rings out in the Church - and through her in the world - leads believers to the full truth, and makes the Word of Christ dwell in them in all its richness."
It appears to say what it says, and you did not argue against it. This is a full filtering middleman. And besides, no FR Catholic has ever told me that I don't need your Church to be saved. While there is the general principle of invincible ignorance, no one has ever told me to rely on it. To my understanding it is a wild card, solely at God's discretion with the idea of one here, maybe one over there. It has never been described to me as some kind of far reaching practice. To the Catholic we are not saved through a personal relationship with God, we are saved by or through the men of the Church, and the physical rituals they perform.
I see what you are probably saying as something similar. CAN the Holy Spirit EVER speak directly to a person? I would expect the Catholic to say "yes", maybe once in a while, but the normal practice is for Him to go through the men of the Church in order to reach the laity. As Dr. E. said, this does not describe a personal relationship with God.
