Catholicism does not teach the worship of Mary.

I've read through some of the many articles posted as of late and I would have to say that based upon the words used by the authors that yes indeed, Mary is worshipped.

wor·ship (wûrshp)
n.
1.
a. The reverent love and devotion accorded a deity, an idol, or a sacred object.
b. The ceremonies, prayers, or other religious forms by which this love is expressed.
2. Ardent devotion; adoration.
3. often Worship Chiefly British Used as a form of address for magistrates, mayors, and certain other dignitaries: Your Worship.

Catholic: "We believe this.'

Catholic-hater: "No you don't, you believe what I say you believe, and it's NOT that. Your efforts to disagree with me are just denial or spin or mincing of words..."

Catholic: "But it's MY faith, I know what we--"

Catholic-hater: "SPIN!"

That would be true if they used the word "worship."

Got a link to that?

Using secular English dictionaries is not a good way to look at Catholic teachings and worship practices. Such is the burden of existing for 2000 years, long before English as we know it even approached it's modern usage.

See: Latria versus Dulia

We believe the Church is whole, and that those who have fallen asleep in Christ are now members of the Church Triumphant. Just as we ask each other to pray for us (every day on this forum!), we believe those who are with God can also pray for us. Since Mary is the greatest of all His creation, we naturally ask her to help us out. If you knew GWB and wanted a favor done, but had a chance to get Laura to do the asking for you, would you ask her to assist you? The prayers of holy people are very effective - the Bible is full of such examples.
