For heaven's sake! The play on words is so powerful it survives translation into another language.

Furthermore, if you have better credentials than D.A. Carson, lets see'um, because he says we have the grammar correct...and he ain't no Catholic.

No, that part is fine, but I think the play on words means the opposite of what you think it means, and is consistent with Matt. 16:23 and 1 Cor. 10:4.

Hebrew & Greek -> Vulgate -> French -> English . . . and it STILL is plain as day.
