Since the unholy union of the Sergeian church and Khrapovitsky’s ROCOR, there is only the late Vitaly Ustinov’s Russian Orthodox Church in Exile (ROCie), some priested and some priestless Old Believers (who live and pray separately), and the Greek churches, such as the GOC (which is affiliated with the Russian Orthodox Autonomous Church).
Please recall that the Whites in Western Europe after the Bolshevik takeover were transferred to the jurisdictions of Greek churches.
I am a member of ROCOR. My late father was the Synodal choir director for over 30 years and his father before him (appointed by the Met. Anastasy). My brother is a preist in ROCOR (Jackson, NJ parish) and my maternal grandmother wrote over 70 church services for the Church including that to the Most Holy Kursk Root Icon of the Sign.
I knew Metropolitan Vitaly as I saw him each week at my church (the Synodal Cathedral on E. 93rd Street in Manhattan). He was a good man and we pray for him often.
There is nothing "unholy" about the reunification of the Russian Church. What Metropolitan Lavr, an old and dear family friend, (who at this moment lies in repose in the Cathedral in Jordanville, where I will be going tomorrow and singing in the choir for his Otpevanie) did was the right thing.
You are free to disagree but please do not slander or insult good and decent people who choose to remain with the the Church rather than go into schism and make a mockery of the Canons. I have seen and heard the most disgusting and UNholy things written and said by those whom are against ROCOR and the ACT and find it to be completely against all that is Orthodox and Christ-like.
