God gave us free will and allows us to make good and evil choices. Your thoughts are no different than the thousands that perished in Nazi concentration camps or Russian gulags. To be honest, it is one of the greatest mysteries of God and countless philosophers and theologians have written on it.

There is a reason why we believe in an earth and a Heaven. Earth is not Heaven; and awful, faith-killing things happen here every day. The challenge is to not let other’s evil choices kill your faith.

My issue is that if God would intercede at this point to help him recover from his traumatic physical injuries (he won't ever recover from the mental trauma of that event), he should have interceded earlier. It's like a doctor knowing you have a small manageable lump or bump and waiting until the lump has now spread to your brain and lungs before trying to fix you. We'd all sue that doctor for malpractice for waiting too long.
