Seven, you took the correction and now claim you did not get corrected in your faulty assumptions regarding Saul’s wives. I can go back and get the thread posts, though they are many months back. You offered Saul as an example of God giving another man’s wives to David. Saul was dead and I pointed this out to you, then you accepted correction. I started this exchange over the issue of adultery, and the Ten Commandment admonition against adultery. God does not change His mind regarding the Ten Commandments else they would be merely suggestions. Smith was a serial adulterer and that is something you are trying to skit past as if it doesn’t matter. But to do this sleight of hand you have to denigrate the Righteous Judgment of God over your prophet. I asked how you reconcile the adultery of Smith, and we see now that Mormonism apologists try to use sleight of hand to skit the truth of this. Quite telling, really.

MHG,

Good post for several reasons:

1. Pointing out how those representing the cult of mormonism
favor the false prophet Joseph Smith over the Righteousness
of God Himself!

2. Pointing out the the founder of the cult of mormonism
was a serial adulterer.

3. To this I’d add that God reinforced this message in the
New Testament when it came to qualifications in Christ’s
Church. Only men who were the “husband of one wife” were
qualified. Joseph Smith and subsequent “prophets” were
unqualified to be Church leaders.

Best,
ampu

Warrior cultures which have an obligation to care for the wives and children of dead relatives by marrying the widows are the only ones which seem to have “successful” polygamist societies. Most other examples of polygamy lead to something like the “lost boys.”

Remarkable reference to David and Saul here;

Jacob 2:23-24
"But the word of God burdens me because of your grosser crimes. For behold, thus saith the Lord: This people begin to wax in iniquity; they understand not the scriptures, for they seek to excuse themselves in committing whoredoms, because of the things which were written concerning David, and Solomon his son.
"Behold, David and Solomon truly had many wives and concubines, which thing was abominable before me, saith the Lord."

Seems God wasn't too happy about that were they. And then there is this:
"Inasmuch as this church of Christ has been reproached with the crime of fornication, and polygamy: we declare that we believe, that one man should have one wife, and one woman, but one husband, except in the case of death, when either is at liberty to marry again." (Doctrine and Covenants - 1835 edition, section 101, verse 4)

Looks like the revelation was against it then too. But being the prophet he was, Smith knew that he was going to prophecy D& C 132 in 1876, so he started right out and not only committed adultery with other men's wives but married others - all the while forbidden by the bom and 1835 D&C. Well, I guess if you are at the top of your food chain, you can do what ever you want in the name of gods.
