Actually, Modern ‘traditional’ Christians are much different than those about who were referenced by the early LDS quote you made, of which they were specifically referencing in that context.

Modern ‘Christians’ haven’t tarred and feathered, murdered, stolen property or other horrible things to Mormons in a long time.

I see no problem with reaching out to enlightened Christians today. We all could learn from each other.

And the Pilgrims and Puritans were much different than the Congregationalist Christians (from which that denomination is founded), are today, but they still believe in the same God now as they did then. It is the people who allow themselves to grow in their belief and understanding that bring about positive, more godly, changes. I earlier posted on another thread that it is not God who has the problems caused by sin (willful disobedience, rebelliousness, deceitfulness, etc.), but “man.”
