As the Bible clearly points out, one cannot reject faith in the Jesus Christ of the Bible, who claimed to be God and the Way, and not suffer eternal damnation.
I just find it amusing/perplexing that people (Mormons, emergents, self-described/so-called "christians", or whomever) can state that they love Christ...just not Christians.
Given the New Testament, it is utterly illogical and a complete impossibility.
I've been in worship services which were not my 'cup of tea' but which did not cause me discomfort because the 'aliveness' of fellow Christians is comforting even in an 'alien' worship service. I'll give you an example: I'm an Episcopalian and 'High Church' is comforting to me, but I've worshipped in Episcopalian Churches where everyone gathered in a circle and broke a loaf of 'blessed bread' Host and passed it around, then the cup. Jesus is not offended so I certainly will not be ... where two or more are gathered in His name, there is He in the midst of them. ... And I have witnessed astonishing miracles where just two were 'gathered in His name' to ask in prayer.
Here's another example: I have a close friend who is a 'higher up' in the Mormon religion; but he was the Christian who led me to Christ before he fell into Mormonism; I do not feel a spiritual deadness when with him, but I have felt that deadness int he presence of other Mormons who did not come to that religion after becoming Chrisitans. In fact ... well, that's enough. Suffice it to say discernment is a spiritual gift He authors, not us or our manipulations of rituals and hand signals or special clothing.
