Here is what he has to say on the subject of us becoming “gods”
“The Son of God became a man,” to enable men to become sons of God.”
“The command Be Ye perfect is not idealistic gas. Nor is it a command to do the impossible. He is going to make us into creatures that can obey that command. He said (in the Bible) that we were ‘gods’ and He is going to make good his words.
If we let Him-for we can prevent Him, if we choose-He will make the feeblest and filthiest of us into a god or goddess, dazzling, radiant, immortal creature, pulsating all through with such energy and joy and wisdom and love as we cannot now imagine, a bright stainless mirror which reflects back to God perfectly (though, of course, on a smaller scale) His own boundless power and delight and goodness. The process will be long and in parts very painful; but that is what we are in for. Nothing less. He meant what He said."
Finally, this reference in Psalms, to which Christ himself made mention of later.
“God standeth in the congregation of the mighty; he judgeth among the gods....I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High.” Psalms (82:1,6)
What you said in #538. Thanks.
“There are no ordinary people. We live in a society of possible gods and goddesses” (Weight of Glory, William B. Eerdmans Publishing Company [Grand Rapids, Michigan], pp. 1P15)...
Psalms (82:1,6)
1 A canticle of a psalm for Asaph.
2 O God, who shall be like to thee? hold not thy peace, neither be thou still, O God.
3 For lo, thy enemies have made a noise: and they that hate thee have lifted up the head.
4 They have taken a malicious counsel against thy people, and have consulted against thy saints.
5 They have said: Come and let us destroy them, so that they be not a nation: and let the name of Israel be remembered no more.
6 For they have contrived with one consent: they have made a covenant together against thee,
Odd how you mangle the Holy Writ there. I misdoubt that you have mangled CS Lewis as well. Playing word games is fun but doing so with the Word is wrong. I suggest you repent of such sins.
My sides ache from laughing at that preposterous idea.
As explained in some detail HERE:
Not only do [Lewis'] works not support the Mormon theology of deification, in fact they expressly contradict it. Each of the Lewis citations have been taken out of their contexts and twisted. In addition, frequently in his writings about humanitys eternal destiny, he carefully clarifies the eternal and impassible gulf between the only Creator and His creatures, including humans. In the future, you may want to do a little more research before posting such an obvious lie.
