Amen. Scripture reveals to us a personal God. And the alternative is unthinkable.
So God is a person, but I'm not so sure about whether I am, but I am LIKE a person.
To borrow an Obamaism, "you're personal enough, MD". :) But seriously, we can be sure of our personality since we were created in the image of God. That's why I think it is so important to understand that we have a personal-infinite God. That tells us so much about ourselves. I am really glad we agree on this stuff, MD. :)
Well, ultimately boring. All the neat stuff about Forest Keeper is at best irrelevant in the non-personal God view, I think.
I'd guess the basic Manichean deal ends up with a god whose worship involves the extinction of the self. And, of course, we have similar language when we talk about dying in Christ and so forth.
But "similar" is not "same" and the difference is HUGE.
