I believe Jesus and his associates have already answered that question. They say it better than we can..
Matt. 7: 16 Ye shall know them by their fruits.
Matt. 13: 23 received seed into the good ground . . . beareth fruit.
Matt. 16: 27 (1 Cor. 3: 8;) shall reward every man according to his works.
Acts 10: 35 he that . . . worketh righteousness, is accepted with him.
Rom. 2: 13 doers of the law shall be justified.
2 Cor. 5: 10 receive . . . according to that he hath done.
Gal. 6: 4 let every man prove his own work.
Gal. 6: 7 whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.
Eph. 2: 10 created in Christ Jesus unto good works.
Eph. 5: 9 fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness.
2 Tim. 3: 17 perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.
Titus 3: 8 be careful to maintain good works.
Heb. 13: 21 Make you perfect in every good work to do his will.
James 1: 22 be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only.
James 1: 27 Pure religion . . . is this, To visit the fatherless.
James 2: 22 by works was faith made perfect.
James 2: 26 faith without works is dead.
James 4: 17 him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not.
1 Pet. 1: 17 (Rev. 20: 12-13;) Father . . . judgeth according to every mans work.
1 Pet. 2: 12 your good works . . . glorify God.
2 Pet. 1: 5 add to your faith virtue.
1 Jn. 3: 18 let us not love in word . . . but in deed.
1 Jn. 3: 22 we receive of him, because we keep his commandments.
Rev. 22: 14 blessed are they that do his commandments.
Then that makes LDS, Jehovah’s Witnesses and Islam valid religions from God.
I noticed when I (and others) asked questions based on posts of people on this thread (with their contradictatory quotes) there are no answers.
Not a bad idea of God's.
Also many scriptures about false prophets and the many that would come in His name.
Imagine without the admonition to not add to the Bible, it would be possible for LDS, Jehovah's Witnesses and Islam to be accepted as valid revelations from God.
I notice that all of the hard questions put to the apologists are not answered.
Just refuting of scriptural passages and references that deny the creations of more Abraham based religions.
Mans salvation is a gift through Gods grace
Works are not necessary for salvation. That was the point. Of course good works will follow as your scripture references reveal.
You know, one of our past prophets spoke of this phenomenon. One of the best talks I have ever heard on being more like the Savior. I doubt you will read it, but I will share this link with you, in hopes that there can come some good from this thread. It has certainly helped me. I hope you might glean something useful from it.
Ah, but Joe Smith proclaimed himself the prophet of god so he was authorized to add thousands of words to the King James Bible (he called it ‘a more accurate translation’, LOL), a prophecy of his advent in these latter days (more than 800 w0rds added to Genesis 50), and extensive additions to the Book of Revelations. Even poor ol’ pedophile Mohammed didn’t go that far!
...which is what you no doubt have been told. Here's the other side of the story, it’s your choice wither or not to find out both sides...
Good try...
That is one of the main differences. Christians do not have to be reunited with a God that lives within them from salvation on. Eterenal life for believers begins at salvation.
How are you going to spend eternity? Being a god over your own planet? Or is that a false option that I have been led to believe by committed Mormons and their teachings?
That is part of the problem with these threads. In the interest of brevity I personally don't answer every single point and I'm sure others do the same on both sides.
Then there are those that are close minded...or in the interest of arguing...and no matter what you say (even if they agree with you) they will contradict on purpose.
I can say I am non-denominational Christian and believe that Jesus Christ is my personal savior and I don't even go to any Church and that still makes me Christian to most, but if I say I believe that Jesus Christ is my personal savior and I am LDS then the same people will say I don't believe in the same Jesus as they do so I'm not Christian.
My favorite though is when someone says "I believe such and such" then someone else says "no you don't you believe this and that" as if they have authority to say what another believes in.
As far as your other point about JW and Islam, I believe JW is a Christian religion as they believe in Jesus Christ however I don't believe in their stances on Holidays, Birthdays, the 144000, and various other things. At the heart of the matter though they do believe that Jesus Christ is the savior.
Islam on the other hand is not Christ's Church as Ishmael is not of the family line that covenants were made. Abrahamic religion maybe, I don't know anything about Islam's teachings except the break at Isaac and Ishmael and that Jesus is only considered a prophet and not the Son of God. Church of Christ? Absolutely not.
Unfortunately, it was not received.
It’s sad to see a “Christian” religion that does not believe in the Eternal Life that starts at salvation and is void of the indwelling of the Holy Spirit.
We can get into this topic hot and heavy if you wish. I have many many quotes from the ancients that support our claim, much of which predates the masonic rituals of the reformation and before, going back to Solomon, David, and further back to Enoch, and beyond...
Shall we, this will be fun?
Now that's just plain silly!
And he told it many many times. Shout it from the rooftops!
Hmmm, is that a hiss or a purr?
Wait, I think I know the answer.
Get past the headline and read on... If you guys really want to have a reasoned discussion and understand our position, let’s do it.
