Sounds awfully cut and dried the way you explain it. In those terms, it doesn’t matter what you pray for because it’s only the attitude that counts and your prayer won’t change anything anyway. I gather you don’t see any real point to petitionary prayer, or indeed — in logic — of making any effort to achieve any end. If it’s God’s will, it will be done. If not, it won’t.

I agree absolutely with this statement! If God is sovereign, this must be true.

As we mature in Christ and are sanctified, our prayers reflect the will of God more closely. Fortunately, God’s will is worked out through His creation and creatures. God uses us (especially His chosen people) to bring about His purposes.

From our perspective, our prayers can have a cause/effect relationship.
