Can have people intimately familiar with the Mormonism heresies telling others the truth now can they! We’ve seen here at FR how the dissembling and deceit runs deep within Mormonism. It will be too easy for the dnc goons to destroy Romney over Mormonism, so the Pubbies cannot afford to nominate that man.
Public shunning (although it is denied) is an effective tool in controlling the behavior of others.
Hard to believe in this day and age of information that is readily available.
I suspect from what little information is given in the article, the problem is that he wanted to represent himself as a church member when he ceased to subscribe to church membership.
Many years ago, there was a tempest in a teapot in my hometown when the local Mormon congregation excommunicated one of their elders who was advertising that he was performing gay marriages. The local reporter did a much better job than this one . . . or at least the local Mormon spokesman did a better job of explaining because the excommunicated guy generated exactly zero public sympathy in a town which was mainly Lutheran and Catholic.
This story has exactly zero relevance to how Mitt Romney or any other Mormon would govern. His father did a fairly decent job of running Michigan's government for over a decade. OTOH, Harry Reid has done an awful job of running the U.S. Senate for the last nine months.
Actually, what we have seen here on Free Republic is the ridiculous lengths to which anti-Mormons will go to smear the LDS Church.
For instance, you recently previously posted this nonsense in which you allege that the Book of Mormon is demonic, self-contradictory, and "dripping with deceitful guile." It is, you wrote, "The very work of demons for human consumption!"
As proof, you cited Moroni 10:4, which you claim contradicts itself. When it was pointed out to you that you had misread the verse, you suddenly had nothing more to say on the subject.
An admission that you were wrong would have been nice. An apology for your overheated rhetoric would have been better. I won't hold my breathe for either one, however.
Now, tell me why anyone should believe anything you have to say about Mormonism?
You have seen no such thing and have shown yourself to be one who thinks nothing of bearing false witness...
I can’t see opposing Romney based on his religion when there are SO many other, more valid reasons to do so.
