why did not our Jewish brothers and sisters have a problem with the Messiah the only begotten Son of God the Father in Heaven?

Oh, they did. That's why they eventually threw the Christians out of the synagogues and stayed Jews. The jewish Messiah will be a man, a king, not divine. To them this problem violated the One God. Orthodox Christians interpret the trinity from scripture, and maintain One God in three persons. (Not two separate persons as Joseph Smith saw.

In orthodox Christianity, God is our father, we are his children, but we are not divine.

Of a truth I say unto you, that he will make him ruler over all that he hath.

But not divine. We are made in God's image, but are not God. We may share in the divine essence, but are not divine.

If it were otherwise, we would not be monotheists. And the early Christians, and orthodox Christians today, maintain, as their jewish precedents, "Our God is One."

This is a very different teaching than LDS as you illustrate. It is your Church's interpretation, but at stark variance with orthodox trinitarian Christianity. As is Jehovahs Witnesses and I believe others who also interpret the New Testament differently and develop their own bibles.

Thanks very much for your reply, as always. I'm not at this point arguing the rightness or wrongness, merely pointing out how different LDS theology is.

It is not an interpretation as you like to think we as LDS testify it came from God who restored his knowledge unto man and those who have desire have received a testimony that it is true!

This is not Theology for this is the Lord's doctrine received by Jesus Christ through Joseph Smith!

The LDS don't have a consensus discussion on such matters we are taught by the power of the Holy Ghost who gives us our understanding!

Theology
The study of the nature of God and religious truth; rational inquiry into religious questions.
A system or school of opinions concerning God and religious questions: Protestant theology; Jewish theology.
A course of specialized religious study usually at a college or seminary.
