First of all, I don’t think the Lord will send anyone to hell for believing in the trinity here. As well, those who don’t understand the trinity are probably in good shape too.

As far as your assertions re: man becoming Gods, I’ll invite you to read the posts by Sevenbak that have been very articulate & insightful re: that subject. How you can read his posts on the subject & come away w/ the thought that it is against the whole of the bible is somewhat of a quandary. IMHO, it’s not as cut & dry as you think, especially given the scriptural references Sevenbak cites. But, to each his own.

In regards to your belief that I believe “Christians” believe in one God for no good reason, you’re just a little bit off there. I can certainly see how one could believe that way. There are a lot of scriptures that would seem to support the one God theory. I can certainly respect that. My questions have been related to the ones that don’t support it. In fact, I think there are a number of things in the bible that would seem somewhat contradictory. I would never disrespect one’s opinions on one side or the other of those issues. I firmly believe that my opinion is no better than another & vis a versa. That’s one of the things I love about this board, is the ability to share differing opinions. Unfortunately, that swap of opinions sometimes turns into a bloodbath which is unfortunate.

I applaud your study of the Book of Mormon & the scriptures you cited in regards to the trinity. You missed a few scriptures though. If you actually read the Book of Mormon, I’m not sure how you missed them, hopefully you didn’t just get these from one of those “anti” sites. Just as in the bible, there are many instances where where the Son spoke to & of the Father (i.e. 3 Nephi 27:28 “And now I go unto the Father”), & one in particular where the Father spoke of the Son, 3 Nephi 11:7 ““Behold my Beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased, in whom I have glorified my name—hear ye him”. And of course, there’s the other scripture that is very similar to John 17:22-23, 3 Nephi 19:29 “Father, I pray not for the world, but for those whom thou hast given me out of the world, because of their faith, that they may be purified in me, that I may be in them as thou, Father, art in me, that we may be one, that I may be glorified in them”.

Although I appreciate your attempt to teach me what is taught in the Book of Mormon, perhaps a visit or 2 w/ the missionaries might clear up a thing or 2 in your mind as to the real teachings in the Book of Mormon. A thorough read might help as well. We do believe the Father, Son, & Holy Ghost to be one God, in council, purpose thought, etc. & of course they are all 3 Gods. Yes, plural, as spoken in the bible.

Your citing Hebrews 1:1-2 is interesting & your interpretation fascinating. “1 God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,
2 Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds”. BTW, notice the Father speaking OF the Son again? But I digress. He speaks here of of having spoken through the prophets, & now through the Son. Would you agree that while the Saviour was here on earth, He was the prophet for all intents & purposes? O.K., so where does this scripture indicate that He would never speak through prophets again? I’m sorry, I just don’t see it. Maybe it’s b/c MHG thinks I’m Satan.

As far as Joseph Smith is concerned, I think he indeed cleared up quite a bit re: the Godhead as well as many other issues. I remember as a young man, & a member of many different Christian churches, having questions that could seemingly never be answered by the leaders. One of those questions was re: prophets. Why had the Lord so loved His people in ancient days so as to give them a prophet, an oracle of God, who would lead & direct by revelation, & yet leave us to fend for ourselves? What had we done to deserve such a curse? In a day of so much confusion amongst the Christian churches, wouldn't’t we need a prophet now more than ever?

Another one of those questions was the trinity. It never made sense to me. Why all the contradictions in the bible? Many compelling scriptures of the one God theory, & many opposed to it. I know what I had been taught, but why couldn't’t it make sense? At a point, I was introduced to what the prophet Joseph Smith had seen. It made sense to me! And the more I studied, the more the answers to those questions I had became crystal clear. Now I was in a real quandary! It all made so much sense, but in a few cases it was completely against what I had been taught for years. I was then invited to inquire of the Lord as He had asked me to do throughout the scriptures. But weren’t the heavens closed? I had to take the chance that they weren’t, b/c I had to know. What happened next was something very personal & sacred to me. Suffices to say, the heavens were/are not closed & I received as the Lord promised me I would.

Now, does that mean that the church is true for all you based on my experience? Absolutely not! It was my answer. However, based on my experience, do I believe that all can do as I did & receive an answer from the author of this all? YES! Does that mean I’m right & everyones else who believes otherwise is wrong? That answer can only come definitively from the Lord, not me! Opinions are like butts, everyone has one. I have mine. In the overall scheme of things, the only opinion that really matters concerning these issues we’ve been debating is the Lord’s imho.

I have asked. I have received. Let others judge me & the answers I received as they will. My faith in my Lord Jesus Christ will remain unshaken. Why? Those answers that come from the Lord are far more sure than the ones I receive from the “wise” of the earth. I thank the Lord every day for that testimony. Have a wonderful weekend all.

"Maybe it’s b/c MHG thinks I’m Satan." Did Jesus think Peter was Satan when He told him 'get the behind me, Satan' regarding Peter serving Satan in insisting Jesus would not be permitted to go to Jerusalem and certain death?

I don't think you're Satan ... your appealing to the extreme silliness of that assertion is more proof that you serve him with your constant sowing of doubt and division, seeking to devour the weak and those searching for Jesus. Your deceit is the more exposed. May God have mercy upon you in the final reckoning ... you risk perdition daily in your current state.
