I don't know, but in the "old days," lots of priests were wary of crossing the nuns. Of course, the nuns then were stricter than the priests (and utterly orthodox), so it all worked out for the best! ;-)
We had all these lay associates of the order (Basilian) teaching the RCIA. They were just like nuns, except they weren’t.
I think there’s a reason nuns tend not to be pretty... (can I say that?) Except for Mother Angelica’s sisters. They’re all cute.
There is a great book, “Grandmother and the Priests” by Taylor Caldwell that has a chapter detailing the old, uneasy relationship between priests and nuns. It is great!
