The fact that "the Apostles were amazed the Gentiles received the Holy Spirit" tells us God's election is not based on works, but upon His good pleasure alone.

It was really simple. They heard the gospel and those that were meant to believed and were saved.

Yep. And you've just proven our point No, you missed the point. The point was that those who believe thye are elect are not necessarily the onyl ones who are elect...God elected anyone who is willing to come to Him.
