I'm not sure what to compare the numbers against, but his figure for Hitler is about 21 million killed. That compares to about 43 million for Stalin and 77 million for Mao Zedong.

The Nazi Germany "low" is 15 million and "high" is 32 million - the 21 million is the "medium."

And the numbers are humbling, aren't they? It's a wonder any of us are alive at all after so much intentional blood-letting. All men are indeed fallen.

That sounds about right. And I'm glad he included the 800,000 slaughtered Tutsis over a mere few days. Genocide/democide is ever present.

I am, as always, astounded that we humans can banter around such figures so casually. Does it really matter if it’s 15 million or 50?

That’s a bunch of people who were killed. I believe that it was Stalin who said that if one person was killed, it was a tragedy. If a million people were killed, it was a statistic.
