No, the Church would have no good answer that's why. It is rather irrelevant, anyway, to us. It was much more important in the Jewish-Christian cultural environment as part of the Jewish folklore and mythology. It served well to show that Chrhist rescued us the way the Hebrews were rescued accoridng to the story of Exodus (which by the way mimicks almost verbatim an older Babylonian myth).
