I am rather tired of non-Cathlics getting all sensitive about what we think AND trying to ask us if we've stopped beating our wives. That's what I do.

Try real hard with my #97 again please. What I tried to say was that the idea is not as off the wall and outrageous as some like to make it out to be given its historical context. But, no, I personally would not even think of burning a heretic. Unless I was cold and had marshmallows.

But, of course, it's SO much more fun to hold the Cahtolics of four or more hundred years ago up to the standards of today and then enjoy a little frisson of horreur and moral superiority. God forbid I should interfere with that. If we worked at it, we might be able to get to the bottom of what's going on in Chiapas. Heck we might even be able to do some good. But that would interfere with lying about Catholics and the feeling of moral and intellectual superiority one can have when doing so. Silly me.
