Yup, knowing the spiritual weakness of the Frankified West and figuring that we Orthodox would be able to withstand the onslaught of Mohammedanism and oppression, remaining true to The Faith, He set us up as a wall against which the Turks would spend their strength. Unfortunately, by the 16th century, we were otherwise occupied and unable to save you from the Protestant Revolution (as the nuns used to call it) But we may yet save you from the new Mohammedan waves! :)
